About WNC Tree Experts
We are a tree crew based at 111 Old Shoals Ln in Arden, working across Buncombe and Henderson County. Mark runs the crew. Trees come down, trees get pruned, stumps get ground, and the yard gets cleaned up before we leave.
What the crew does
The work splits into two halves. One is taking trees apart safely in places where there is no room to drop them, over roofs, driveways, fences and steep banks. The other is keeping good trees standing, which means deadwood, clearance and thinning rather than a saw at the base.
Most days a job needs more than one method. A climber goes up on rope and saddle where the tree is sound and the access is tight. The bucket truck handles tall pines and anything too dead to climb. When there is no safe drop zone at all, sections get flown out with a crane-assisted pick.
The equipment
- Rope and saddle climbing gear for sectional removals and pruning
- Bucket truck for tall pines, hardwoods and dead wood near structures
- Tracked skid steer with a grapple to move logs without tearing up the yard
- Chipper on site so brush leaves the same day
- Stump grinder so the removal is finished, not half done
How a job runs
You call or send the form. We come out, walk the property with you, and look at the tree, the lean, the ground and the access. You get a written estimate before anything is scheduled, so there is no guessing at the price on the day.
On the day, the crew sets up ropes and rigging, clears the drop zones, and works the tree from the top down. Brush goes through the chipper as it comes down, logs get grappled out, and the last hour is rake, blow and haul. The measure of a good job here is that the tree is gone and the yard looks like nobody was in it.

After the storm damage on Saturday June 13, 2026 we had one very large oak tree deep in the backyard that broke at the main trunk, fell, and crushed a cedar tool shed. We also had a damaged sugar maple that unfortunately never fully recovered from Hurricane Helene on September 27, 2024, with half of its branches standing dead. Mark and Brett were outstanding on the two original tree problems, but they also cleaned up seven other very large old growth trees that were overhanging the house, street, and driveway, that were always dropping large dead limbs, hitting the roof and our cars. Mark and Brett were very professional and talented, explaining the scope of the project, the timeline and pricing of the project. They left our property cleaner than it was before the job started and had very fair price point. WNC has a permanent spot on my contact list. Mark is really the best.
Great tree service! Timely, efficient, and affordable. Nowadays it's hard to get some services to even show up. Mark and his team showed up as scheduled, and all work was completed as quoted. Even when it turned out to be more difficult, requiring additional equipment, they made sure to take care of us as their customer. They cleaned up after completing the job and made sure we were satisfied. I couldn't be more happy. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
