Clearing a mountain lot is a series of decisions, not one pass with a machine. Which trees hold the bank, which ones block the view, which ones sit in the driveway line, and which ones are worth keeping once the house is built. We clear selectively, mark what stays, and take out the rest with a skid steer, a chipper and a grapple.
Building sites are the common one. You need the pad, the driveway cut and the septic area open, plus room for equipment to work, while keeping the mature trees that make the lot worth building on in the first place. Trees close to the future structure come down properly rather than getting pushed over with roots and all, because a pushed stump leaves a hole and a mess for the excavator.
The other half of this work is view and edge clearing. Reopening a ridge view that grew shut, cleaning up a fence line, pulling brush and scrub out of a pasture edge, or clearing a swath of storm-broken trees left over after 2024. Steep ground and wet soil set the pace, so we plan the machine route before anything comes down and keep the site drivable.

Access, slope and soft ground decide where the skid steer travels and where the chipper and log pile sit.

Clear and process
Trees come down in a controlled way, brush goes straight through the chipper, and logs get grappled out to the landing.

Finish the ground
Stumps ground where you need workable ground, debris hauled, and the site left ready for the next trade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you clear part of a lot and leave the rest wooded?
That is how most of these jobs go. We flag the keep trees with you first, and we work around them so you do not lose the canopy that made the lot worth buying.
What happens to the brush and logs?
Brush is chipped on site. Logs go out with the grapple and get hauled away. If you want chips kept for trails or beds, or rounds left for firewood, say so up front.
Do you grind the stumps on a cleared lot?
Yes, and on a building site it is usually worth doing. Grinding the stumps out leaves ground an excavator or a grader can actually work.
